Embedded Web Pages

Each Extron IP Link® product has an onboard Web server with embedded (aka: default) Web pages.  The embedded Web pages were used prior to the availability of the Global Configurator application, and can still be used to configure and manage the device.

Embedded Web pages are:

There are three ways to launch the embedded Web pages:

Status page

Use the Status page to view:

  • System Description

  • IP Settings

  • RS-232 Port Settings

  • IR/Serial Port Settings

  • Statistics

    • Total On Time

    • Average On Time per Day

    • Average On Time per Week

    • Button Statistics

    • Lamp Hours

Configuration page

Use the Configuration page to:

  • Change the IP Settings

  • Change the Date/Time Settings

  • Change the Executive Mode

  • Set passwords

  • Set up E-mail Alerts

  • Perform a Firmware Upgrade

File Management page

Use the File Management page to:

  • Create directories within the onboard Web server.

  • Upload files to the onboard Web server.

Control page

The Control page provides a graphical user interface of the front panel controls (buttons and knobs) on the IP Link® device.

From here, you can control the device just as you can from the physical front panel or the GlobalViewer® interface.

You can also view IR or Serial device drivers and view or execute individual device driver commands.

To launch the embedded Web pages from Global Configurator:

  1. Select and right-click the desired device in the IP Link Tree window.

  2. Select Open System Status Webpage.

The selected device's embedded (default) Web page opens in a new Internet browser window.

Internet browser (prior to a GC file upload)

To launch the embedded Web pages of a device from an Internet browser if:

  •  the device is connected to your network

- and -

  • a GC file has not yet been uploaded to the  device:

  1. In the browser's Address field, enter:

"http://<IPaddress>"

where <IPaddress> refers to the device's IP address.

  1. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Once a Global Configurator file has been uploaded to a device it no longer launches the embedded Web pages in an Internet browser by entering just the device's IP address.  You must enter the entire path to access the embedded Web pages.

If a GC file has been uploaded to a device that is a GlobalViewer host device, and you only enter the device's IP address in an Internet browser, the GlobalViewer Web page launches.

If a GC file has been uploaded to a device that is not  a GlobalViewer host device, and you enter the device's IP address in an Internet browser, a page with the following message is displayed:

"You have accessed a system configured for centralized management.  Please contact your local support administrator for information required to access this system."

To launch the embedded Web pages of a device from an Internet browser if:

  •  the device is connected to your network

- and -

  • a GC file has been uploaded to the  device:

  1. In the browser's Address field, enter:

"http://<IPaddress>/nortxe_index.html"

where <IPaddress> refers to the device's IP address.

  1. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
