Mic/Line Input Gain

Each of the devices in the MLS 608 D Series has two mono mic/line input channels.

See the Optimizing Audio Levels section for more information.

Adjusting Mic/Line Input Gain

Each mono mic/line input channel GAIN block provides a single fader with a gain range of -18 dB to +80 dB and a level setting text field below the fader. You can adjust the level in 0.1 dB increments.

A single Mute button provides control of channel muting. You can set the polarity to positive (+) or negative (-), with positive polarity being the default.

The gain range accommodates a line level signal, typically from line level source devices or a wireless microphone receiver with a line level output, or a mic level signal from dynamic or condenser microphones. Phantom power is provided for condenser mics that may require it.

A peak meter displays levels of -60 dBFS to 0 dBFS, with a last-peak-level (peak hold) readout below the meter. You can resize the Mic/Line Gain dialog vertically to adjust the view of the fader. The default setting is unmuted with unity gain (0.0 dB).

To adjust the fader level:

  1. Click the fader handle or click within the fader area.

  2. Adjust the level using any of the following methods:

  3. Click and hold the fader handle, then drag it to the desired level in 0.1 dB increments.

  4. Press the <Up Arrow> or <Down Arrow> key to respectively increase or decrease the level in 1 dB increments.

  5. Press the <Page Up> or <Page Down> key to respectively increase or decrease the level in 10 dB increments.

  6. Click in the Level text field (resolution is 0.1 dB increments) and enter a new value. Then, press <Enter> or press <Tab> to move to another area of the dialog.

  1. Click OK to accept the changes and close the dialog. Click Cancel to close the dialog without saving any changes.
