Extron Debuts New Low Capacitance Serial Control/Digital Audio Cables

Anaheim, California (June 9, 2004) - Extron introduces the new Low Capacitance Serial Control/Digital Audio STP 24 and Low Capacitance Serial Control/Digital Audio STP 24 Dual Cable, the latest addition to the company's growing line of high quality bulk cables for the AV industry. These cables offer reliable, high performance, long distance transmission and distribution of serial digital audio and serial control signals, such as RS-232, in a variety of AV applications. Available in plenum and non-plenum versions, Extron Low Capacitance Serial Control/Digital Audio Cables are ideal for serial control and AES/EBU (Audio Engineering Society/European Broadcasting Union) commercial digital audio applications. These shielded twisted pair cables provide controlled impedances that meet AES/EBU standards, maintaining the integrity of the signal. "Engineered as a dual purpose cable, it fulfills industry AES / EBU standards for digital audio distribution and is exceptional for long distance transmission of RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 signals," says Lee Dodson, Extron vice president of marketing. The Low Capacitance Serial Control/Digital Audio STP 24 cable features two color-coded (1 twisted pair) 24 AWG tinned copper conductors, and a tinned copper drain wire on the inside of the foil shield that is bonded to the jacket for ease of stripping when used with automatic stripping equipment. The Low Capacitance Serial Control/Digital Audio STP 24 Dual features four color-coded (two twisted pairs) 24 AWG tinned copper conductors, and a tinned copper drain wire on the inside of the foil shield of each twisted pair. The Low Capacitance Serial Control/Digital Audio Cables are flexible and easy to pull, saving time and reducing installation costs. The shield is 100% bonded aluminum foil to maintain signal integrity. Both cables are available now in bulk rolls of 1,000 feet (304.8 meters).
