Extron Introduces VersaTools® Line of Compact Products

Anaheim, California (April 8, 2002) – Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce VersaTools® — a new line of compact, affordable audio and video products housed in durable, quarter rack width, metal enclosures with flexible mounting options (stand-alone, rack-, or under-desk mountable) and adaptable international, external power supplies. Their small size makes them the ideal solution for easy integration into both new and existing AV systems including boardrooms, training facilities, home theater, command and control centers, and rental and staging environments. First to be introduced in the VersaTools line are the Extron Mini Distribution Amplifiers (MDAs). There are 12 models of MDAs for composite video, composite video with audio, S-video, S-video with audio, SDI, and audio only. MDAs are equipped with one input and three, four, or five outputs— depending on the model. The MDA audio models have unity audio gain (fixed on RCA models and selectable on captive screw audio models). Composite video versions are available in 1x3 (MDA 3V), dual 1x3 (MDA 3V Dual), and 1x5 (MDA 5V) sizes. Composite video with audio is offered in a 1x3 (MDA 3AV) size. The MDA 3V Dual model includes two one-input, three-output distribution amplifiers in a single enclosure. Video inputs and outputs are on female BNC connectors. Balanced/unbalanced audio is accepted on 3.5mm captive screw connectors. S-video versions are available in 1x3 (MDA 3SV), dual 1x3 (MDA 3SV Dual), and 1x5 (MDA 5SV) sizes. An S-video with audio model is offered in a 1x3 (MDA 3SVA) size. The dual model includes two one-input, three-output distribution amplifiers in a single enclosure. S-video inputs and outputs are on female 4-pin mini-DIN connectors. Balanced/unbalanced audio is accepted on 3.5mm captive screw connectors. The MDA 4V SDI is a 1x4 model that accepts SMPTE-259M Serial Digital Video on a female BNC connector and has automatic equalization and reclocking capabilities. The MDA 4V SDI will automatically accepts and distributes 4fsc PAL, 4fsc NTSC, component 4:2:2, and widescreen 4:2:2 standards. Audio only versions are available in a 1x3 (MDA 3A) model that accepts audio on 3.5mm captive screw connectors, and 1x3 or 1x5 (MDA 3A RCA or MDA 5A RCA) models that accept audio on unbalanced RCA connectors.
